Reward for painting in the rain…a prize for the Quick Paint at the BayArts Plein Air event. Such a great birthday gift! A big shout out to Karen Petkovic and Jeff Suntala. It was a joint event with Urban Sketchers Cleveland and BayArts Plein Air.
This was painted in about 3 hours. It’s acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas and 12″ x 12″ x1.5″. My process starts with quick thumbnail sketches in graphite on paper. The base layer is burnt sienna on the canvas, so I’m working from a neutral color. Then I paint outlines of the shapes in ultramarine, color gets added last.
